Easter eggs and Happy easter message on dark background

Celebrating Easter across Hampshire and Surrey

With Easter just a few days away here’s our round up of some of the top Easter events in our area, providing lots of great reasons to get out and about in the towns and countryside of Hampshire and Surrey.

Camberley are hosting an Alive and Wonderland Themed adventure on Saturday 4th April from 10am-4pm with fun for all the family including 8ft mushrooms, giant tea cups and a huge ‘Drink Me’ bottle, with free face painting too.

There’s 2 days of Easter fun in Aldershot town centre with a bunny hop competition starting on Friday 3 April, where children can search the town looking for pictures of Easter eggs hidden in shop windows and uncover the hidden word.  Saturday 4 April will see the return of the very popular children’s farm in Aldershot Town Centre.  Children will be able to meet springtime favourites including lambs, chicks, goats, rabbits – all for free.

Those looking to stretch their legs might enjoy the Easter Walk at Fleet Pond on Friday 10th April and Saturday 11th April from 10am-2pm.  You can join the Countryside Rangers on a self-guided walk which is suitable for all ages and dogs are welcome.  Meet the Rangers in the picnic area to get your Easter pack, find the clues, answer the questions, return to the picnic area and collect your Easter egg.  No need to book – just drop in anytime between 10am – 2pm.

On Sunday 5th and Monday 6th April you can bring some Cadbury magic to your family by joining in at one of the Easter Egg Trails at the Easter Eggstravangaza at The Vyne near Basingstoke or Winkworth Arboretum near Godalming.  For opening times and visitor prices please check www.nationaltrust.org.uk

If you prefer to put your feet up and watch the world go by then how about a ride on the miniature train at the Viables Craft Centre in Basingstoke on Easter Monday?

Whatever activity you end up deciding upon, we hope you all enjoy a very Happy Easter.

Boost to household incomes as UK inflation falls to zero

The UK inflation rate has fallen to zero for the first time on record.  This means that prices for goods and services are no higher than they were this time last year.

Continuing a trend from the last few months, falling oil prices and a supermarket price war have contributed to cheaper food and fuel prices – both key factors in household budgets.

Generally this means that with wages starting to rise, you could see your money going further.  It also means a rise in interest rates may be further off than previously thought, resulting in more, cheaper mortgage offers available.  You can read more about it here: This is Money

With more money in your pocket and the continuation of low interest rates now could be the perfect time to make your next property move.  We can sell your home from as little as £499 or 0.5% + VAT saving you thousands in standard estate agency fees and giving you more to spend on your new home.  Why not contact us today for a free valuation on 01252 819725.

Helping hand for first-time buyers with the Help-to-Buy ISA

Today the Government announced new help for first-time buyers through its Help-to-Buy ISA.  This was part of the Budget announcement – the last Budget before the general election in May.

The Help-to-Buy ISA offers a major tax benefit to those saving up a deposit to buy their first home as for every £200 that these first-time buyers save, they will receive a top up of another £50.  For some savers this could mean a total benefit of up to £3,000, and a couple saving towards a home together could benefit from a bonus of up to £6,000 as both savers are eligible for the £3,000 bonus.

Group of runners

Good luck to all the runners in the Woking and Fleet Half Marathons

At Check 4 Houses we are passionate about supporting our local community and wanted to wish the brave runners in the Surrey and Fleet Half marathons coming up the best of luck.

The Surrey Half Marathon takes place on Sunday 8th March, starting and finishing at the Woking Leisure Centre.  The event is the biggest half marathon in Surrey and is great training for any local people taking part in the London Marathon this year – as well as an amazing achievement in itself.  The event also includes a Kids Race of 2km for children aged 6-16 years.  If you fancy going along to support the runners you can enjoy the range of live bands along the route, as well as cafe and food stalls, shops and kids activities in the Event Village.

The Fleet Half Marathon is a few weeks later on 22nd March.  In its 34th year, the long established Fleet Half Marathon is open to over 2,500 runners and features a traffic-free course which is gently undulating. The route is well marshalled and benefits from professional medical support. Designed to be completed in under 3 hours, the course also offers an ideal build-up to the London Marathon or a fantastic achievement in itself.

If you are looking to move to Fleet, Hampshire or Surrey then why not check out our properties currently for sale, as well as some comments from happy customers who have sold their property through Check 4 Houses.

Housing development

Young first time buyers can now sign up online for cut-price new starter homes

In a move announced by the government last year, young first time buyers can now go online and sign up for cut-price new starter homes – with 20% off the asking price.

The www.starter-home.co.uk website officially launched this weekend and is now live for those under 40 to register their interest in buying one of the new homes.  New rules have cut planning requirements for the new Starter Homes, allowing house builders to slash 20% off the usual price.  The government says that building on the first homes is expected to start within months.

Housing already seems to be becoming an important topic in the run up to the election with all major political parties pledging to increase the number of new homes being built every year to cater for increasing demand and to help stimulate the economy.  Though increasing supply runs the risk of diluting housing prices, in our extremely competitive areas of Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire schemes to help get people on the property ladder should only help to meet existing demand and be good news for our local property market.
