The ever popular Fleet Carnival marks its 60th Anniversary this weekend, taking place from 3rd – 5th July 2015.  The theme for this year’s Grand Procession on Saturday 4th July is ‘Through the Decades’, highlighting how much has changed over the past 60 years of the Carnival.

There are a wide variety of events taking place across the whole weekend so you are sure to find something to get involved in.  The first event is designed to get those brain cells buzzing with a Quiz night on Thursday 2nd July from 8-11pm in Crookham Memorial Hall.  On the Friday night the fair arrives with fun for all the family and you can also hear live music from bands including ‘Free Peace Sweet’ and ‘The Cobbles’ who will be getting those dancing feet moving.

On Saturday afternoon the Grand Procession takes place, starting out from Connaught Road and leading down Fleet High Street before finishing at Calthorpe Park.  The floats always look wonderful and add great atmosphere to the event.  Live music and the fun fair run throughout the afternoon and evening including the chance to hear some fantastic local talent live on the main stage so come along and support Hampshire’s finest artists.

Sunday 5th July is show day and with the car show, craft show, dog show and even baby show there is something for just about everyone.  Dog classes include ‘Loveable Lad’ and ‘Golden Oldie’ and prizes are available in the Baby show from age 3 to 18 months.  Your little baby – be it human or canine could be the star of the show so get yourself down to Calthorpe Park by 11am.

Whilst Carnival is of course about bringing local people together and having fun, it also raises lots of money for local charities.  Proceeds from this year’s event will be going to Wooden Spoon which is the UK’s leading grant-making charity dedicated to helping disadvantaged and disabled children and young people through rugby.
