Dash of Colour lights up Frimley this weekend

This Saturday sees the green Frimley Lodge Park become a colourful rainbow for the afternoon with the Dash of Colour event.  This fun 5k walk, jog or run (or even dance or hop!) raises money for Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice, based in Farnham, Surrey.  Phyllis Tuckwell is the only Hospice Care service for adult patients, and their families, living with cancer or other serious progressive illnesses across the whole of West Surrey and part of North East Hampshire.  For over 35 years they have provided supportive and end of life care to local people, serving 550,000 residents.

The event starts at 1pm in Frimley Lodge Park and spectators are welcome – even if they might get messy!  The special non-toxic, biodegradable paint is thrown at approximately each kilometre point along the route.  Participants are also issued with a small sachet of powder paint to throw in the air at the same time at the start to create a rainbow moment as the event begins.

If the Colour Run isn’t for you then there are plenty of other local events on this weekend.  Why not head to the Camberley Car Show?  This event is open from 10am till 4pm and sees the streets in and around Camberley Town Centre decorated with a wide variety of vehicles including many rare examples of Veterans, Vintage, Classics, Hot Rods and Motorcycles.  Alongside the eclectic car selection visitors can enjoy live music and lots of other entertainment.  It promises to be a great day out for the whole family.  The event is free to attend and aims to raise funds for the South West Thames Kidney Fund which supports essential research into kidney disease and diabetes.  Last year the event raised a fantastic £7,000.

If you are looking to move within or even relocate to Farnham, Camberley and their surrounding areas then we can help you find your ideal property.  Why not check out our properties currently for sale, as well as some comments from happy customers who have sold their property through Check 4 Houses.  We can sell your home from just £499 or 0.5% + VAT.  Please give us a call on 01252 819725 or contact us and we can give you a free, no obligation valuation of your home.

Join in the fun at Fleet Carnival this weekend

The ever popular Fleet Carnival takes place this weekend from 1st-3rd July 2016.  The theme for this year’s Grand Procession on Saturday 2nd July is ‘Rio’ in preparation for the Olympics there this summer.  Floats will be taking inspiration from the Olympics as a whole, one of the 42 different sports that are part of the Olympics, or the Rio Carnival itself.

Carnival opens at 5pm on Friday 1st July on Calthorpe Park playing fields with the fun fair, live music and Bingo Night in the marquee.  Three live bands will be performing including ‘The Cherries’ and ‘Off the Record’.

On Saturday the carnival fun begins again at 10am, with the main procession starting at 1pm.  Live music, the Kidszone, food stalls and the fun fair all run throughout the afternoon with plenty to entertain everyone.  There are already over forty floats confirmed for the procession – with everything from fireman to librarians and vets to hairdressers, as well as many local schools.

Sunday 3rd July is show day and with the car show, dog show and even baby show there is something for just about everyone.  The dog show features nine different categories for everything from Puppies to Golden Oldies and Loveable Lads to those with the Waggiest Tails.  The annual Makers Market will have over 40 local stalls including quilters, jewellers and painters as well as edible delights such as jams and fudge.

Whilst Fleet Carnival is of course about bringing local people together and having fun, it also raises lots of money for local charities.  Proceeds from this year’s event will be going to Chloe’s & Sophie’s Special Ears Fund (CSSEF).  CSSEF is inspired and motivated by Chloe and Sophie Jackson.  Chloe and Sophie are sisters and both live in Aldershot, Hampshire.  They are both deaf.  The charity is passionate about raising deaf awareness in the local community, including providing deaf awareness sessions, story sacks and resource kits for schools.

Athletes running on the road

Congratulations to all the Fleet Half Marathon runners

This year’s Fleet Half marathon took place on Sunday 20th March and was another fantastic running event.

Celebrating its’ 35th Anniversary this year, the Fleet Half Marathon has always been a popular pre-London marathon race.  The event is designed for runners of all abilities and is well supported by local residents.  Since the first event in 1982, thousands of runners have completed the race and it has become a highlight of the local sporting calendar.

The gently undulating 13 mile route is traffic free and finishes in the delightful Calthorpe Park area, with good local support along the way.  The fully marshalled course travels over a mix of urban and rural roads through the town centre and surrounding countryside and provides a rewarding challenge in itself, as well as being for some a vital part of their London marathon preparations.

This year the race supported two main charities – Bloodwise (formally known as Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research) and Arise All Saints, for the restoration of All Saints Church, following the fire.  Around 3,500 runners entered the race supporting more than 60 charities in total, with some runners choosing to fundraise for their own charities.

If you didn’t quite make the Fleet Half Marathon but are feeling inspired to start running, the Fleet 5k and 10k takes place on Sunday 23rd October so you have plenty of time to get your entry in and start training.  You can find out more at www.fleet10k.co.uk

Based in Fleet, at Check 4 Houses we offer all the knowledge of a local high street agent, but at the cost of an online agent.  If you are looking to move within Fleet, Farnborough or further afield we can sell your property from as little as £499 or 0.5%+VAT, saving you thousands.  Please give us a call on 01252 819725 or contact us and we would be delighted to give you a free, no obligation valuation of your property.

Group of runners

Good luck to our local runners in the Fleet 5+10k this October

The Fleet 5 and 10k takes place on 25th October 2015 and we would like to wish all our local runners the best of luck.

The event is run by Fleet & Crookham Athletics Club which formed over 50 years ago and has been organising road races for over 40 years.  It is an undulating course over public roads run in an anti-clockwise triangle.  The route is 5k and so those entering the 10k will complete the course twice with a finish area located at the end of Harlington Way in Victoria Road car park.

The closing date for entry is midday on Monday 12th October 2015, or earlier if the entry limit is reached, so there may still be time to enter either of the races.  This could be the start of your road running career – a kick start to getting fit for 2016?  The club (a registered charity) are also on the look out for marshalls to help on the day so this could be your opportunity to get involved in your local community and support this great event.  No experience is needed and you can volunteer using this link: http://t.co/PoEtfyVTmc

If running isn’t your thing then Hampshire and Surrey offer many other fantastic sports facilities including the Arena Leisure Centre in Camberley, the Connaught Leisure Centre in Aldershot and football, rugby, cricket, hockey, tennis, ice hockey, volleyball and even gliding clubs around the region.

If you are looking to move to Fleet or surrounding areas then why not check out our properties currently for sale, as well as some comments from happy customers in Fleet who have sold their property through Check 4 Houses.
