Audience at a music festival

Summer of fun coming up across Fleet, Aldershot, Yateley, Farnham and beyond

Though not all schools have broken up yet, the recent warm weather means that summer is already in full swing. There are lots of outdoor events coming up in Fleet, Aldershot, Yateley, Farnham and other local areas to keep you entertained over the next few weeks.

Stars of Stage and Screen at Fleet Carnival

This weekend Fleet was taken over by the Hollywood theme of this year’s Festival. The main procession started on Connaught Road at 2pm. Every penny collected along the route went directly to the chosen 2018 charity – The Zone! The-Zone! is a charity dedicated to families living with autism and similar conditions in Hart, Rushmoor and surrounding areas. Sadly, this year’s dog show at the Carnival had to be cancelled due to the heat. However, the Baby Show and Kids zone were very popular. Crowds were entertained with music from many live bands including Farnborough Tech bands and Fleet Rock Choir.

Summer fun in the Princes Gardens bandstand in Aldershot

A summer of free music kicked off on Saturday with the Sandhurst Community Band performing in the Aldershot bandstand at lunchtime. There will be free music every Saturday over the summer from midday to 2pm right through till 1st September. Why not take along a picnic and enjoy the entertainment? You can view the full line of up bands here: https://www.rushmoor.gov.uk/bandstand

Live Music on 14th July in Elvetham Heath, Sherfield on Loddon and Hartley Wintney

Next Saturday offers a variety of entertainment with events across our local region. Concert on the Green takes place in Elvetham Heath in Fleet from 3-8pm and promises live music, inflatables, food and refreshments. Further west, Sherfest takes place at Sherfield Park in Sherfield on Loddon from 12-8pm. Along with live music, there will be a balloon twister, face painting and more to keep the kids entertained. At Hartley Wintney Football Club you can enjoy live music from 1pm right through to 11pm at family-friendly music festival Rowfest. Bands include The Ganchos, The Whisky G’s and Jo Johnson.

And ..Action: Outdoor cinema in Aldershot, Fleet & Yateley

If cinema is more your thing you can enjoy outdoor screenings at locations in Aldershot, Fleet & Yateley – as well as other locations across the South East. The Greatest Showman at Aldershot Lido is already fully booked for 12 & 13th July but there are still tickets available for other screenings. Enjoy a blast from the past with Back to the Future on Yateley Green on 26th August or Pretty Woman at Aldershot Lido on 31st August.

There’s also Weyfest in Farnham on 17th – 19th August to look forward to. This premium, boutique-style festival offers fine foods, wines, ales, ciders and lagers, cocktails and champagne bars – with plenty of posh clean toilets. Yateley bids for neighbourhood status in Hart District Council public consultation

Yateley is a thriving town in North East Hampshire with a pretty village green. Complete with neighbouring areas Frogmore and Darby Green, it is home to over 20,000 local residents.

Yateley Town Council is currently seeking permission from Hart District Council for the whole area to be designated as a ‘neighbourhood area’. This will enable them to develop a Neighbourhood Plan for Yateley.

Neighbourhood plans help shape future development

Neighbourhood Plans are a hot topic at the moment. They are an important part of the development of our local area, particularly when it comes to planning. Hart District Council ran a consultation last year on their ‘Hart Local Plan: Strategy and Sites 2016 – 2032’ which looks at policies and sites for development for the next few years. Their latest version goes out to public consultation next month.

Developing a Neighbourhood Plan allows local communities to play a greater role in determining the future of their area. If approved and adopted they become a statutory document. They must be taken into account when planning applications are submitted either by individuals or developers. Areas such as Hartley Wintney have already developed their own neighbourhood plan and Yateley are looking to do the same.

Have your say

The consultation on Yateley’s application is open until 4pm on Monday 12 February. You can view the proposed area online, and submit comments by email to neighbourhoodplanning@hart.gov.uk or by post to Neighbourhood Planning, Corporate Policy, Civic Offices, Harlington Way, Fleet, Hampshire, GU51 4AE.

As local estate agents, we are proud to have helped customers in Yateley sell their properties over the past few years. One happy couple, Mr & Mrs Candlish said:

“Highly recommend these guys, after a very stressful time trying to sell our place with a popular local high street estate agent. We decided to ask Check Houses to sell our place. They were friendly, accommodating & professional.

They got the job done extremely quickly and we have exchanged in less than 3 months with limited fuss!

Check 4 Houses have reinstalled my trust in the process. They have made moving ‘this time’ a much more pleasurable experience! I cannot recommend them enough!”

At Check 4 Houses we are passionate about supporting people through the stressful and emotional challenge of selling their property.  We offer personal contact from start to finish, from local property experts that know the towns and cities of FleetFarnborough, AldershotBasingstokeCamberleyYateley and Farnham inside out.  Our internet based approach means we can sell your home from just £599 or 0.5% +VAT – saving you thousands in agency fees.  Please give us a call for a no obligation valuation of your home on 01252 819725 or email info@check4houses.co.uk.
